Genesys Cloud enables bulk importing of people and their information into an organization using a .csv file format through the People and Permissions > People > Bulk Import interface or User Management menu. Users require Directory > User > All Authorization and Role > View permissions to perform bulk uploads. The .csv file requires name and email as mandatory fields, with all other data optional and must follow a specific column order: name, email, phone_work, extension, title, department, email_manager, location_work, roles_divisions, queues, division, skills, and hire_date. Queue names are comma-separated, though individual queue names cannot contain commas. Skills can include proficiency ratings separated by colons (for example, Skill1:5,Skill2:3), with multiple skills separated by commas. When new skills are included in the import, they replace existing skills; however, blank skill fields do not override existing data. Empty values in extension, title, or department columns override existing Genesys Cloud data, while empty values in other optional fields do not. The import process validates data formats, automatically adds new locations, and appends roles and queues to existing users without removing previous assignments. Genesys recommends exporting the .csv file from a spreadsheet application rather than using a plain text editor to ensure proper formatting with automatic insertion of required quotes and commas. The validation process does not detect spelling errors or extra spaces, which can cause duplicate role creation; therefore, thorough proofreading before import is essential. For files containing double-byte characters in languages such as Japanese or Chinese, the file must be saved in Unicode or UTF-8 format. Users can review an import preview and optionally send automatic invitations after adding people to the organization. Optional configurations include enabling the "Update Existing People" setting to modify current user records and activating "Send Invitation Notification" to automatically dispatch invitations upon user creation. For organizations using Active Directory, Genesys Cloud supports automatic synchronization through Azure Active Directory SCIM connector configuration, eliminating manual import requirements. Upon completion, administrators receive confirmation and can access related documentation on people management, user profile editing, role assignment, and external contact administration.
