Genesys Cloud's call routing system manages inbound calls through configurable call flows mapped to specific telephone numbers and dialed addresses, enabling administrators to direct customer interactions based on operational status and scheduling parameters. The platform provides access to routing management via the Call Routing tab, which requires specific permissions including Architect Flow viewing and routing functions (Call Route Add/Edit/View/Delete, Emergency Group Edit/View, and Schedule Group View). The system supports multiple configurable routing elements that accommodate diverse business requirements. Key capabilities include assigning different call flows for open and closed business hours through designated schedule groups, implementing emergency routing protocols via Emergency Call Flow and Emergency Group settings, organizing routes by divisions, and configuring holiday-specific call flows. Each call route contains an internal ID and can be configured with multiple inbound phone numbers to direct callers into associated inbound call flows automatically. Administrative functions enable users to create new routes, delete existing ones, and modify routing parameters including dialed addresses, schedule groups, and emergency settings. The platform includes search functionality to filter routes by name and integrates schedule groups for automated routing based on time-based parameters. Call routes can be configured to close during emergencies, and each route maintains associated metadata including division classification and internal ID tracking. Administrative tasks encompass creating new call routes with associated call flows, telephone numbers, and schedules, as well as managing existing routes by modifying names, dialed addresses, telephone numbers, flow routing definitions, or removing routes entirely. The system provides comprehensive call route configuration capabilities supported by related resources covering routing fundamentals, Architect configuration, message routing, operating schedules, schedule groups, emergency handling, permissions, automated call routing, and advanced routing strategies to support comprehensive call management workflows.
