Script editor overview

AI-generated summary

Genesys Cloud Resource Center provides a script editor for creating and maintaining scripts that guide agents during inbound and outbound calls. The script editor interface consists of five main components: a component toolbar with script menu, standard buttons, container buttons, components buttons, and templates menu; a tab bar displaying configuration settings; a workspace for laying out pages with components; a content panel for the selected tab; and a properties panel showing page or component properties. Script designers use the editor to place components on the workspace and link pages together to create agent instructions. Component properties are organized into groupings including Common (frequently changed settings), Layout (position and size settings such as width, height, and alignment), Appearance (visual settings such as text color and background color), and Advanced (action configuration and component-variable relationships). The script editor enables designers to configure scripts entirely within the platform, manage components and pages, define and manage variables for agent visibility, and handle actions triggered when scripts start, pages load, or agents respond. The editor includes preview and publish functionality, template creation capabilities for reuse, and requires permissions under Scripter categories for script creation, publication, addition, and viewing. No programming or web development expertise is required to create sophisticated and visually appealing scripts.

The script editor appears when you create or edit a script. As a script designer, use script editor to compose and maintain script pages. To define script pages, place components on the workspace and link pages together to create instructions for agents to follow during inbound or outbound calls.

Number	Name	Description
Component toolbar	The toolbar consists of four sections: Script menu Standard buttons Container buttons Components buttons Templates menu
Tab bar	The tab bar displays the various tabs of configuration settings.
Workspace	To lay out a page, place components in the workspace region.
Content of selected tab	This panel displays information for the selected tab.
Properties panel	This panel displays properties of the page or more commonly, properties of the currently selected component. As properties vary between components, they are documented in help topics that explain how to add each component. See Add a script component for the list of component topics. Properties of components are grouped to display related items. Most components have the following the general groupings: Common: Settings that are frequently changed for a component. Layout: Settings that affect the position and size of a component, such as width, height, and alignment. Appearance: Settings that affect visual appearance, such as text color and background color. Advanced: Settings that configure actions or the relationship between a component and a variable.

Configure scripts entirely in this editor. The script editor helps manage components on a page and pages in a script. The script editor also helps manage any actions that Genesys Cloud takes when a script starts, loads a page, or responds to the agent. The script designer defines and manages variables, whose values the agent sees when using components.

The script editor makes it easy to preview and publish scripts. You can save all or part of a script as a template for others to use. The script editor makes all these activities simple. You don’t have to be a programmer or a web developer to create sophisticated and visually appealing scripts for any type of call.
