Activate and configure the Google TTS integration

AI-generated summary

Genesys Cloud integrates with Google Cloud text-to-speech (TTS) to enable text-to-speech capabilities for contact center applications. The integration requires a Google Cloud platform account with an enabled Google Cloud text-to-speech API and Edge and Media Tier version 1.0.0.7920 or later. To establish the integration, users must create a Google Cloud service account and download the JSON key file containing four specific credential values: client ID, client email, private key ID, and private key. These values must be extracted and entered into corresponding Genesys Cloud fields with precision to prevent conversion errors. During the credential mapping process, users must ensure all information between quotation marks is captured exactly as displayed, with particular attention to preventing third-party tools from converting special characters such as "n" into unintended commands. The configuration process involves accessing the Google Cloud TTS integration through the Genesys Cloud Admin menu, navigating to the Configuration tab, and entering the mapped credentials into the dedicated dialog box. After populating all credential fields, users click OK and Save to confirm the configuration. Advanced settings support optional endpoint override for custom Google TTS endpoints. The integration becomes Active upon status change from Inactive through the Status column, with confirmation required in the resulting Change Status dialog box. The integration supports multiple languages and converts text into spoken audio while enabling workflow configuration through Architect and customizable audio content through prompts. Related features include access to TTS engines, AppFoundry for integration management, and other Google Cloud integrations such as Dialogflow CX. Google Cloud TTS API pricing is based on monthly character synthesis volume. Genesys Cloud does not support Chirp 3 TTS voices with this integration. Users can migrate to the Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) model for enhanced customization, with community support available for additional assistance.

To access the Google Cloud text-to-speech (TTS) engine in Genesys Cloud, you must first add and configure the Google Cloud text-to-speech integration and then add your credentials.

Notes:

Google prices its Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API monthly based on the number of characters to synthesize into audio sent to the service. For more information, see Google Cloud text-to-speech API pricing.
Genesys Cloud does not support Chirp 3 TTS voices with the Google TTS integration.

To configure the Google Cloud Text-to-Speech integration, perform the following steps:

Create a Google Cloud service account and download the JSON version of the service account key.
Note: The JSON file contains the credentials required for the integration with Genesys Cloud. The Google Cloud TTS integration does not require that you add roles or admins to the service account.
Open the Google Cloud TTS integration:
- If you have not previously installed the integration into your Genesys Cloud organization, install it now.
- If you have installed the integration, open the Genesys Cloud Admin menu and under Integrations, click Integrations click Menu > IT and Integrations > Integrations . Then, search for and open the Google Cloud Text-to-Speech integration.
On the Genesys Cloud integration page, click the Configuration tab.
(Optional) To override the default Google TTS endpoint, click Advanced in the left pane, and then add the required endpoint. For example, "endpoint": "northamerica-northeast1-texttospeech.googleapis.com:443".
In the left pane, click Credentials, and then click Configure. The Configure Credentials dialog box opens.
Open the Google Cloud text-to-speech JSON service account key file that you downloaded previously.
Copy the information from the JSON service account key file into the appropriate Genesys Cloud fields.
1. Copy the “client_id” value from the JSON file into the Genesys Cloud Client ID field.
2. Copy the “client_email” value from the JSON file into the Genesys Cloud Client Email field.
3. Copy the “private_key_id” from the JSON file into the Genesys Cloud Private Key ID field.
4. Copy the “private_key” value from the JSON file into the Genesys Cloud Private Key field.
  Notes:
  - Ensure that you copy all of the information that appears between the quotation marks.
  - Ensure that you copy and paste the exact value shown, and that no values convert to invalid commands. For example, a third-party copy program can convert the \n value to a new line.
Click OK.
Click Save.
To activate the Google Cloud Text-to-Speech status, in the Status column click Inactive. The Change Status dialog box opens.
Click Yes. The Google Cloud Text-to-Speech integration status changes to Active.
