Genesys Cloud provides extensive text-to-speech capabilities through multiple engine options, including the native Genesys TTS engine, Generative AI TTS, and third-party integrations with Amazon Polly, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Nuance via Genesys AppFoundry. Voice and engine selection operates on a per-flow, per-language basis, configured through flow settings under Supported Languages, with a 3000-character limit per TTS string when using Amazon Polly voices through Enhanced TTS.
New flows automatically adopt organizational default TTS settings, while existing flows retain Genesys TTS unless manually changed. When an organization modifies its default TTS engine or voice, existing flows must be republished to adopt the new defaults. Users can select any voice supported by the chosen TTS engine, including voices that differ from the flow's default language, with automatic fallback to the base TTS engine if third-party services experience delays or errors.
Secure call flows support only PCI-certified solutions: Genesys TTS, Enhanced TTS, Amazon Polly, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services Text-to-Speech, and Nuance Text-to-Speech. Generative AI TTS voices cannot be used in secure call flows. Generative TTS voices—including Google Cloud's Chirp 3: HD, ElevenLabs' Eleven Flash v2.5, and Amazon Polly's generative voices—are supported across call flows, bot flows, and voice surveys. Only third-party TTS solutions are supported in the US East 2 (Ohio)/FedRAMP region.
Configuration is managed through the Supported Languages settings, where administrators select an engine option and corresponding voice. Voice selection flexibility allows mismatches between flow language and TTS voice for localized speech output. All TTS configuration changes require the flow to be saved to take effect. Genesys Cloud provides documentation feedback mechanisms and support resources for users working with flow configurations and text-to-speech functionality, including community support and related articles covering Architect features, TTS engine selection, and supported language configuration.
