Genesys Cloud enables organizations to configure Automated Contact Distribution (ACD) messaging for Instagram Direct Messaging, allowing agents to communicate with customers through Instagram's native platform. The integration requires specific licensing (Genesys Cloud CX 2, CX 3, CX 4, or corresponding Digital Add-on variants), appropriate messaging permissions, and a published Facebook business page linked to a professional Instagram account. Organizations must establish a professional Instagram account through Meta's business infrastructure and connect it to the associated Facebook business page prior to integration setup. The configuration process involves accessing Platform Integrations through the Genesys Cloud menu, authenticating via Facebook login, and designating the integration name and target Facebook business page. Users must select a supported content profile during setup; if none is selected, the system applies a default profile. The integration automatically retrieves owned Facebook pages upon authentication, and administrators can assign multiple Facebook pages to a single integration. Once configured, the integration enables bidirectional messaging between agents and Instagram customers, with the interface transitioning from a Save button to a Delete button upon successful completion. Organizations can further customize the integration through Platform Configuration profiles to align with specific operational requirements. The integration supports one-page-per-instance connections, with each additional page requiring a separate integration instance. Users must respond to Instagram Direct messages within seven days; messages sent after this period fail to deliver. Story mentions from private Instagram accounts are only delivered if the receiving account follows the private account. Password changes to the associated Facebook account sever the integration connection and require deletion and recreation of the integration to restore functionality. Navigating away from the configuration page or clicking Save, Delete, or Cancel automatically logs out the current Facebook session. If an integration is deleted, queued messages cannot be answered. Genesys Cloud does not store ephemeral Instagram story mention content, including images, videos, or associated CDN URLs, and prohibits screen recording of such media. User-unsent direct messages are automatically deleted from Genesys and removed from interaction history. Ephemeral content remains unavailable for quality management review or future features. Once the integration is configured with ACD messaging, message flows can be established in Architect.
