Genesys Cloud provides administrators with configurable controls over the edit window for sent chat messages through the Organization Settings interface. Administrators with the appropriate Chat > Setting > View and Chat > Setting > Edit permissions can access this feature via Menu > Account > Organization Settings, then navigate to the Settings tab and locate the Chat Message Edit Window Seconds field under Security & Compliance. The edit time window accepts values between -1 and 259200 seconds (equivalent to 72 hours), with specific behaviors: setting the value to -1 enables perpetual editability of messages, setting it to 0 disables message editing entirely, and any positive integer establishes a defined time window in seconds during which users may modify sent messages. After configuring the desired value, administrators must click Save to apply the setting across the organization.
