Manage data resources in the flow

AI-generated summary

Genesys Cloud's data resource management system allows users to handle variables across call, email, message, chat, voicemail, survey invite, bot, digital bot, and common module flows. The Data section displays variables in columns showing Type (string, currency, collection), Name, Container, Direction (input/output), Secure status (indicated by key icon), Usage, and Description. Users can view or edit data resources depending on read-only status, with access to details like accessibility, initial values, and usage location. The system enables filtering data by accessibility and searching for specific resources by name. For email, message, chat, survey invite, digital bot, and common module flows, users can add new variables by selecting type and name, manage existing variables through the Edit Variable dialog, and delete unused or unpublished output variables. Secure data is visually identified with a key icon in both variable names and flow actions.

Under Resources, select Data. The list of variable data appears in the Data section.

The Data section includes the following columns:

Column	Description
Type	View the variable category for the data resource. For example, string, currency, or collection.
Name	View or manage a data resource. Click the data resource name for details. If the resource is read-only, the View dialog box opens. In this view, you can see details such as the name, accessibility, initial values, and usage location. If the resource is not read-only, the Edit dialog box opens. Here, update the resource name, configure accessibility and initial values, or navigate to the appropriate usage location.
Container	View where the data appears.
Direction	View whether the data is an input or output variable.
Secure	If the flow consumes secure data, a key icon appears in the secure variable names and actions shown in the task editor. The system represents the use of secure data by the key icon that precedes the name of the flow:
Usage	Click the link that indicates the place or number of places where the resource appears within the flow. To navigate to the area of the flow in which the resource exists, do the following: To open the Usages dialog box, click the usage link. In the Location column, click the appropriate link associated with the resource.
Initial Size	The size of the variable’s initial value, as set in Architect before the flow runs. Calculated using canonical sizing. Note: It is not applicable for variables marked as inputs. Also, it is available only in email, messaging, and workflow flow types.
Description	View detailed information about the data resource.
Filter data by accessibility	Enter the first few letters of the data resource you want to find. Architect filters the list by your selection.
