Genesys Cloud Global Media Fabric enables organizations to configure real-time media streams across any Genesys Cloud media region worldwide, allowing users and trunks to be associated with any region except US-East 2 (Ohio), which is reserved for FedRAMP compliance and operates in isolation. The feature applies exclusively to BYOC Cloud trunks and supports both BYOC Carrier and BYOC PBX trunk types, with clients using either WebRTC or managed SIP phones. Configuration occurs through the Sites and Trunks pages under Telephony, where administrators first add media regions to a site and then configure trunks to use that site. Available media regions span the Americas (US-West Oregon, US-East N.Virginia, Canada Central, South America São Paulo, Mexico Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Dublin, London, Zurich, Paris, and European Sovereign Region Brandenburg), Middle East (UAE), and Asia Pacific (Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, Mumbai, Osaka, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta). Genesys recommends testing various configurations to optimize the balance between audio latency and call setup times, with results varying based on carrier location, agent location, and internet connection quality. Organizations using Genesys Cloud Voice or BYOC Premises trunking can extend functionality through hybrid media. The feature is currently in Limited Availability for the European Sovereign Region, and customer configurations must comply with local telecommunications regulations.
