and service goals. This feature reduces manual schedule modification efforts while giving agents flexibility to adjust their schedules according to their preferences. To enable alternative shift trading, administrators access the Workforce Management Configuration menu, navigate to Business Units, and toggle the Enable Alternative Shifts option on the Alternative Shifts tab. Key configuration parameters include setting minimum hours before a trade shift can start, which prevents agents from requesting trades within a specified timeframe and ensures adequate notice for schedule changes. For example, a 24-hour minimum prevents same-day trade requests, while a 4-hour 15-minute minimum blocks trades for shifts starting before that duration from the current time. Administrators can designate specific activity categories as protected, ensuring that mandatory activities assigned to particular times remain included in any alternative shifts offered for that shift. For instance, if a Meeting activity category is marked as protected and an agent has a Company All-Hands meeting scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, any alternative shifts offered for that Tuesday shift will include the same meeting at the same time. This functionality requires the Workforce Management > Business Unit – Add, Edit, and View permission to configure.
