Genesys Cloud enables administrators to configure retention periods for Collaborate chat messages through the organization settings. The retention period can be set to any value between 10 and 3650 days, with a default of 3650 days. This setting applies retroactively to all existing Collaborate chat messages within the organization. Message removal begins after business hours on the day the retention period is modified, and substantial reductions in the retention period may require up to one week for complete removal of out-of-scope messages. File attachments in chat messages follow the organizational-level retention policy established for chat messages, while ACD chat messages remain unaffected by this setting. To modify the retention period, administrators access Menu > Account > Organization, navigate to Settings, locate the Chat Message Retention Days field under Security & Compliance, enter the desired number of days, and save the changes. This feature requires administrator role permissions and Chat > Settings > View and Edit access.
