Genesys Cloud provides a comprehensive workforce scheduling solution through its Resource Center and Work Plans interface, enabling organizations to establish detailed work plan configurations that define shift durations, break requirements, and scheduling parameters. The platform allows management to set weekly paid hours limits, maximum scheduling days, and business unit-specific configurations, with an intelligent scheduling engine that automatically assigns predefined break patterns based on shift length—ranging from no breaks for short shifts to multiple breaks and meals for longer shifts. The scheduling engine selects one daily shift per day of the week from multiple available shifts, with flexibility for optional days where no shift selection is possible. Key features include weekly and daily shift configuration options, agent constraint management, customizable timeline views with zoom and filtering capabilities, and complete schedule maintenance tools that enable users to copy work plans between management units, validate constraint settings, and track agent counts. The Work Plans page displays essential fields including work plan names, agent counts, weekly paid hours, maximum scheduling days per week, and enabled/valid status indicators. Core functionality supports adding and managing work plan configurations, copying or deleting shifts, filtering and sorting workforce items, managing agents within plans, and adjusting daily shift and weekly configurations through edit, copy, and delete functions. Additional capabilities include detailed shift viewing through zoom functionality, work plan rotations, bid management, and comprehensive constraint validation. Work plan configurations describe weekly, weekend, planning period, general, and day-level scheduling constraints that the system incorporates into the scheduling process, with agents assigned to work plan configurations rather than individual daily shift configurations to enable varying degrees of flexibility across agent groups. Access requires specific Genesys Cloud CX licenses (CX 4, CX 3 Digital, CX 1 WEM Add-on II, CX 2 WEM Add-on I, or CX 3) and appropriate Workforce Management permissions for work plan administration. The Validate button allows administrators to verify constraints during configuration, while the Copy function simplifies setup by duplicating existing shift and work plan configurations. Business unit selection from the upper right corner is required before beginning work plan configuration. The platform supports comprehensive work plan management tasks including creating and configuring new work plans with weekly and daily shifts, copying or deleting existing plans, managing agent assignments through filtering and sorting, adjusting daily shift configurations, editing weekly parameters such as paid time and minimum intervals between shifts, and modifying shift activities. The documentation provides linked resources covering work plan setup, agent management, shift administration, weekly configuration adjustments, and work plan rotation assignment.
