Genesys Cloud's import phones feature enables bulk import of phone configurations through a CSV template containing fields for name, base, site, email, remote address, hardware ID, key label, line appearance ID, DID, and extension. Required fields vary by phone type: WebRTC phones require name, base, and site; remote phones add remote address as required; AudioCodes/Poly/Polycom phones require hardware ID; and other phone types have specific conditional requirements. The process involves downloading the CSV template from Admin > Telephony > Phone Management, completing the spreadsheet with appropriate values for the target phone type, and saving the file in UTF-8 format before importing. Optional fields such as key label and line appearance ID are auto-generated from the phone name if not provided. Email addresses can designate a phone as the default device for a user. Phone names must be unique and cannot contain spaces. The feature requires Telephony > Plugin > All permissions to execute. Base settings and site infrastructure must exist beforehand to support bulk phone creation. Users can designate an existing email address as the default user, and for standalone phones, either a DID number or extension is mandatory. The import process involves selecting and opening a CSV file, verifying data accuracy, and optionally enabling email-based phone user assignment through a dedicated checkbox. Upon completion, newly created phones appear in the Phones tab. The platform also supports bulk import of WebRTC phone configurations and prompt configurations, with specific naming conventions and formatting requirements for phone numbers during bulk operations.
